Theme: CO2, Kick the Habit! Towards a low carbon economy.

World Environment Day (WED) is one of the principal vehicles through which the United Nations stimulates worldwide awareness of the environment and enhances political attention and action.

The agenda is to give a human face to environmental issues; empower people to become active agents of sustainable and equitable development; promote an understanding that communities are pivotal to changing attitudes towards environmental issues; and advocate partnership which will ensure all nations and peoples enjoy a safer and more prosperous future.

You don't have to be in New Zealand to contribute to World Environment Day! Do your part at home or office this Thursday and you will be helping to celebrate WED! Recycle a can, a plastic bottle or even just a piece of paper! Or go plastic-free (including straws) or vegetarian for the day! Car-pool, take public transport, walk to lunch, switch off your computer during lunch, skip that late night supper drive.............there are just an endless amount of things YOU can do in just that one day that can help to reduce your impact on our precious earth!

So what are you waiting for? Plan what you're going to do on 5th June 2008 for YOUR earth today!
