Haze: Klang Valley air at unhealthy range (Update 8pm)

PETALING JAYA: First the water, now the haze.

It looks like Klang Valley residents can’t find any respite in the weather. Having to endure weeks of disrupted water supply, they now have to contend with the haze.

The air pollutant index reading shot up to unhealthy levels in six places by Monday evening with Port Klang registering an API of 141 (API of 100 to 200 is categorised in the unhealthy range) at 8pm.

The other places are Shah Alam (105), Petaling Jaya (104), Kuala Selangor (102) and Banting (101). Seri Manjung, Perak recorded 110.

According to the Department of Environment’s website, several areas registered moderate air quality (API 51 to 100) as at 8pm.

They are Seremban (95), Taiping (100) and Batu Muda, Kuala Lumpur (96).

Other states that are recording moderate to unhealthy air readings include Taiping (100) and Ipoh (83) in Perak, and in Muar (99) in Johor and, Perai in Pulau Pinang (94) Sungei Petani (99) in Kedah.
