PETALING JAYA: The rains on Monday evening and early Tuesday did little to clear the haze that has been lingering over Klang Valley the past few days.

The Air Pollutant Index in most of Selangor and Kuala Lumpur showed unhealthy readings at 1pm.

The seven areas are Banting (130), Petaling Jaya (123), Port Klang and Shah Alam (121), Batu Muda and Kuala Lumpur (115), Kuala Selangor (105) and Nilai (109).

The federal capital of Putrajaya registered a reading of 86 while Cheras was 82.

Outside the Klang Valley, Muar (89) and Seremban (87) are the areas with near unhealthy air.

API reading of between 50 and 100 is considered moderate, 101 to 200 unhealthy and beyond 200 hazardous.
