Building Partnerships for the Environment

Established in 1998, GEC focuses on addressing environmental issues of global importance with a strong focus on river basin, wetlands, biodiversity and climate change through partnerships with similar-minded agencies worldwide.

Programmes

Forest & Coastal Programme

To support the protection and sustainable use of forests and wetlands through integrated management of biodiversity conservation, ecosystem-based risk reduction and climate change.

Peatland Programme

To enable sustainable peatland conservation and use through multi-stakeholder partnerships in ecosystem restoration and climate change mitigation.

Outreach & Partnership Programme

To enhance awareness, capacity and stimulate the action as well as promote sustainable partnerships between different organisations and sectors to safeguard the environment.

River Care Programme

To promote and support integrated management of river basins and water resources with particular focus on stakeholder engagement, community participation, waste management, biodiversity and wetland conservation and/or through nature-based solutions as well citizen science approaches.

Initiatives

National River Care Fund

A Small Grant Programme initiated by GEC to support local community, community-based/non-profit organisations and educational institutions to pursue their own river conservation initiatives.

GEC Community Network

GCN is established to provide a platform that unites both existing and future community partners of GEC. It will foster the sharing of experience, lessons learned and strengthen capacity of these communities for environmental stewardship and organisation’s sustainability.

✨ 15 SPARK Foundation MY staff and their families explored four learning stations, gaining insights into river health, the river basin concept and the vital role of forests as natural watersheds.2️⃣ Sg Way Clean-Up & River Care Education at Desa Mentari
