Peer learning visit on sustainable urban gardening

On November 6, GEC facilitated a peer learning visit for two distinct community groups under Global Environment Centre Community Network (JKGEC): Sahabat Gambut Asli Temuan (SGAT) and the river-based community, Kebun Komuniti KRT PPR Beringin!

Kebun Komuniti KRT PPR Beringin chairperson Che Roziani Mohd Shariff showcased to SGAT community members hands-on sustainable gardening techniques to boost crop yield and optimise limited urban spaces including fertigation, hydroponics, and aquaponics! 🌿

The group even harvested fresh Bok Choy grown chemical-free fertilisers, embracing organic and eco-friendly practices.

Participants visited the community garden’s composting room to learn how to turn household food waste into compost: a first-hand knowledge on sustainable waste management to enrich soil and reduce waste. 🍃♻
