Temuan Culture Information Centre (TCIC) @ Balai Informasi Budaya Temuan

A Gateway to the Fascinating World of the Temuan Orang Asli

The Temuan Culture Information Centre (TCIC) is a one-stop referral centre that provides opportunities for the general public to explore and gain a deeper understanding of the culture and traditions of the Temuan Orang Asli in Malaysia.

The centre showcases a diverse range of crafts, artworks, traditional items, hunting weapons, games, delicacies and information, providing a comprehensive understanding of this marginalised community in the heart of Selangor.

It was established as a significant milestone of a community development project aiming at the empowerment and livelihood enhancement of Temuan Orang Asli in Mukim Tanjung Duabelas.

The project was implemented by the Global Environment Centre (GEC) with the sponsorship of the Hasanah Foundation (HF) and in collaboration with the Orang Asli Development Department (JAKOA) and Sahabat Gambut Asli Temuan (SGAT).

Located in Kampung Orang Asli Pulau Kempas (2.875495, 101.595858), the TCIC spans an area of 2,520 square feet. The centre was officially inaugurated on 14th December 2024 by YB Tuan Papparaidu A/L Veeraman, the Member of the Selangor State Executive Council (EXCO).

The SGAT members have played an active role in the construction, interior design, landscaping, operation and management of the TCIC.

It is also one of the key components of the Indigenous Village Tourism Package (IVTP), which aims to enhance the livelihood and socioeconomic standards of the Temuan Orang Asli community through village tourism activities in Kampung Orang Asli Pulau Kempas and Bukit Cheeding.

By attracting both local and international tourists, the TCIC strives to generate additional income for the local community through the sale of community products and services.

At the TCIC, visitors are offered a wide range of activities and experiences to choose from with payments determined based on their personal preferences. This adaptable approach guarantees that visitors enjoy a customized and fulfilling experience, while also providing direct support to the local community.
