Canon Marketing (Malaysia), a global leader in photographic and digital imaging solutions, today embarks on its corporate green journey by taking a green walk down the streets of Kuala Lumpur and officially launching its Canon Goes Green campaign.
The walk signifies Canon’s commitment towards the environment with the aim that more people will step forward to take part in supporting the environmental causes that the company is championing through this campaign.
“WWW.CANONGOESGREEN.COM is the heartbeat of our campaign. Today’s launch serves as our invitation to the public to be part of our movement. Remember – little acts can make a difference,” said Mr. Liew Sip Chon, President and CEO of Canon Marketing (Malaysia).
“We hope this campaign will shift the attitude of our community, bring in urgent focus to saving the environment for our future generation and deliver the message that individual contribution matters,”
“As a start, we have three young people who call themselves the EnvironMENTALS who are with us here today. Their role is to carry environmental messages to the people on the streets with random acts,” enthused Mr. Liew.
The environMENTALS have been on the streets and have captured the attention and imagination of people on the streets with their acts of driving around in a cardboard car, splashing removable green paint on those who harm the environment, catching litter bugs in action and so on.
This trio maintains a Facebook group (Just look up EnvironMENTALS) which is gaining a strong following. View the photos and videos of their random act as well as their blog http://environmentals-goes-green.blogspot.com/ as they share their vision for a better environment in the future.
The microsite dedicated for Canon’s green journey www.canongoesgreen.com is an interface between Canon and the public to fulfill a tree planting pledge undertaken by Canon.
The canongoesgreen.com microsite invites photo contributions of the environment/natural surroundings from the public to get the ball rolling so Canon can fulfill their pledge of planting 2,500 trees to replenish the environment. Each picture submitted will earn a tree for the environment.
The 2,500 trees will be planted at several green lungs situated in Padang Kota Damansara, a reserve area in Klang Valley on 19th October 2008. This effort is in association with Majlis Bandaraya Petaling Jaya (MBPJ) and Global Environment Center (GEC).
“With the launch of the Canon Goes Green campaign and the microsite- www.canongoesgreen.com, we hope to get more public support through photo contributions so we can plant those trees and replenish our environment for our future generation,” added Mr. Liew.
