River Care Programme
Conservation and Restoration Projects at Cyberjaya Lake Gardens
The projects focus on enhancing biodiversity and protecting the health of water bodies at Cyberjaya Lake Gardens and its surrounding areas.
To promote and support integrated management of river basins and water resources with particular focus on stakeholder engagement, community participation, waste management, biodiversity and wetland conservation and/or through nature-based solutions as well citizen science approaches.
The projects focus on enhancing biodiversity and protecting the health of water bodies at Cyberjaya Lake Gardens and its surrounding areas.
GEC is partnering with OSK Foundation to empower local communities, schools, businesses and the general public and implement a pollution mitigation action plan at selected premises to minimise the impact on Sungai Kayu Ara and contribute to river conservation.
The project aims to rehabilitate Taman Aman Lake through nature-based solutions, lake ecosystem health concept and smart partnerships with key stakeholders.
This project addresses the increasing risks of flooding caused by climate change and the expansion of human settlements in flood-prone areas.
This project is designed to strengthen and replicate successful community-based ecotourism and food security models established previously in Kampung Tonggang and KRT Klebang Selatan to other communities in Perak and the Klang Valley.
The project focuses on empowering the local community on issues that contribute to the river care management including river monitoring and citizen science initiatives.
The project is part of an expansion of the ongoing Yayasan PETRONAS Tree Planting Programme: “Walk4Trees” Challenge implemented by GEC since 2020.

This project is a collaborative effort of various stakeholders especially key relevant government agencies in Perak aims to conserve and preserve the upper catchment of Kinta River Basin that serves as water supply to Orang Asli and local communities.
The River of Life (RoL) project, identied as a project under the Government of Malaysia National Transformation Programme, aims transform the eight (8) rivers that are located within the Greater KL / KlangValley region.
SPARK Foundation has decided to extend the implementation of the programme until 2018.
Sungai Penchala River Education Programme is the expansion of Sungai Way W.A.T.E.R Project (Working Actively through Education and Rehabilitation) which began in 2007.
Malaysia is perceived to be a water rich nation as it receives abundant amount of rain every year and currently has sufficient water resources to meet its needs.
