GEC’s Environmental Education Programme

For nearly three decades, GEC has incorporated a Civic Science approach to raise awareness, build knowledge and develop skills for relevant target groups, enabling them enabling them make informed decisions and take meaningful environmental actions. This commitment led to the establishment of the GEC’s Environmental Education (EE) Programme.

Over the years, GEC has developed various EE Programmes focused on natural resource management. Many have been adopted and endorsed by the Ministry of Education and other government agencies.

Integrating deeply both green and brown elements:

Green issues focus on the conservation and protection of ecosystems such as forests, peatlands, water resources, native flora and fauna as well as fish species.

Brown issues relate to human-induced (anthropogenic) factors such as littering, solid waste contamination, water pollution, costal issues and air pollution.

These elements are deeply interconnected. Addressing them together through a holistic, integrated approach is essential to achieving long-term environmental sustainability and driving proactive actions. It aligns with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) framework.
