The monthly tree planting programme is an activity aim to promote the importance of forests protection to the public.
The programme was introduced in 2008 by the Selangor State Forestry Department (SSFD) and Global Environment Centre (GEC) as well as, through the years, in partnership with and funded by various corporates including HSBC Bank Malaysia, Yayasan Sime Darby, Prosper Capital Holdings Sdn Bhd and in collaboration with other NGOs.
The rehabilitation programme is organised in collaboration with SSFD, GEC, Friends of North Selangor Peat Swamp Forest and Sahabat Gambut Asli Temuan (SGAT). The objectives are:
- To make positive impact by enrichment planting of high quality tree species at Raja Musa Forest Reserve (RMFR) and Kuala Langat North Forest Reserve (KLNFR);
- To provide first-hand experience and promote a sense of ownership among participants in rehabilitating RMFR and KLNFR as well as other forests;
- To support the Greening Malaysia agenda through the 100 Million Tree-Planting Campaign; and
- To support the Central Forest Spine initiative at ecological corridor CFS2:SL3.
