Bridging Cultures: International Dialogues for Environmental Justice through Socially Engaged Arts Practice

We are delighted to announce the launch of ‘Bridging Cultures: International Dialogues for Environmental Justice through Socially Engaged Arts Practice’, which brings together the Malaysian Temuan community, Global Environment Centre and Malaysian artist Shaq Koyok in dialogue with Welsh artist Owen Griffiths Take A Part CIO, the Plymouth East End Arts Action Group, and the Ocean City Influencers in the UK.

It unites voices from the East End of Plymouth and the Orang Asli of Malaysia—communities separated by oceans but connected through shared concerns about climate justice, plastic and our relationship with the land and sea. It is both artwork and invitation: a call to listen deeply, act locally and think globally.

Over the next month, we will be sharing the Calls to Action (CTA) featured in the artwork. Together, these ideas ask: how can we close the gap between our lives and the lives of others, and how can we nurture the connections that keep this work alive?
