Airbnb Community Fund 2023: Strengthening GEC’s Community Network Toward Forest Stewardship – Klias Peninsula

This project aims to ensure the continuity of community-based forest management and rehabilitation initiatives through sustainable, medium- to long-term multi-stakeholder partnerships.

Objectives:

To support peatland and forest protection through community-based fire prevention measures.

Key Activities: 

    • Community awareness event
    • Community patrolling activities for fire prevention

Key Outcomes:

    • Conducted community awareness event on fire prevention in Klias Peninsula.
    • Appointed community fire patrollers from the villages that are prone to peat forest fires.
    • Installed Fire Danger Rating System (FDRS) signboards and water level marker.
