OCBC Bank’s Mangrove Tree Planting Project in Tebuk Mendeleng, Sabak Bernam Selangor

Pertubuhan Sahabat Hutan Bakau Kampung Dato’ Hormat (PSHBKDH) was established to facilitate action in protecting and rehabilitating mangroves in the village area, in Sabak Bernam, Selangor. The members (from B40 category) generate side income through the establishment of a mangrove nursery and undertaking mangrove rehabilitation activities with the support from corporate partners and the state government.

OCBC Bank (Malaysia) Berhad (OCBC Bank) partners with Global Environment Centre (GEC) together with PSHBKDH to plant 9,000 mangrove trees which approximately covers an area of 4.5 ha of mangrove forest in Tebuk Mendeleng, followed with monitor and nurture over the next three years.

The project also encourages the locals to enhance their mangrove forests through sustaining both the newly-planted mangrove and existing mangrove forests in Tebuk Mendeleng, Sabak Bernam, Selangor.
