This project is a continuation of the successful mangrove restoration efforts in Riau, Indonesia between Aramco Asia Singapore, Global Environment Centre and Yayasan Gambut.
Previous phases achieved remarkable success with the establishment of two community nurseries, the planting of more than 24,000 mangrove trees and the construction of 200 metres of wave breakers with strong community participation.
This new phase will expand to four villages, targeting 9 hectares of mangrove rehabilitation, establishing two new nurseries and the installation of a 100-metre wave breaker in Kelapa Pati.
The project enhances ecosystem resilience, blue carbon storage and local livelihoods, while empowering communities through training and long-term stewardship.
