YAYASAN PETRONAS WALK4TREES CHALLENGES (SARAWAK)

This project supports the Mangrove Rehabilitation Activities in Sarawak by engaging with local stakeholders including local community.

Aim/Objectives: Restoring mangrove ecosystem through revegetation by planting native tree species while empower local communities through the activities.

Key Activities: 

    • Engaging local community for tree planting activities
    • Monitor key biodiversity activity.
    • Empowering the communities that the restoration activities
    • Monitor carbon measurement

Key Outcomes:

    • Planted 2,500 trees equivalent to 4ha on degraded land to support natural regeneration in Binsulok Forest Reserve.
    • Established community nurseries from Kampung Buntal
    • Empowering local communities through forest stewardship in rehabilitation areas.
