Yayasan PETRONAS Walk4Trees Challenge (Sarawak)

This project supports the Mangrove Rehabilitation Activities in Sarawak by engaging with local stakeholders including the local community.

Objectives:

Restoring mangrove ecosystem through revegetation by planting native tree species while empower local communities through the activities.

Key Activities: 

    • Engage local community members in tree planting activities.
    • Monitor key biodiversity activity.
    • Empower the community members in restoration activities.
    • Monitor carbon measurement.

Key Outcomes:

    • Planted 2,500 trees in 4 ha of degraded land to support natural regeneration in Binsulok Forest Reserve.
    • Established a community nursery in Kampung Buntal.
    • Empowered local communities through forest stewardship in rehabilitation areas.
