This project is a continuation of the successful Mangrove Forest Conservation Initiative implemented during the 2022–2025 phase.
The new phase (2025–2027) focuses on restoring degraded mangrove areas in Kota Tinggi District, developing community-based ecotourism aligned with Visit Malaysia Year 2026 and creating sustainable livelihoods for B40 communities in Pulau Tanjung Surat, Johor.
In developing the ecotourism opportunities, Pertubuhan Sahabat Hutan Bakau Pulau Tanjung Surat (PSHBPTS) members will be trained as certified tour guides and later on, develop ecotourism packages targeting 300 annual visitors for sustainable revenue generation by 2026.

Key Activities:
- Maintain 9,000 existing trees in Pulau Tanjung Surat
- Plant 6,000 new trees in Lebam Forest Reserve (3 hectares)
- Develop a replicable conservation model
- Strengthen the organisational capacity of PSHBPTS
- Develop local expertise in conservation and ecotourism
- Build strategic partnerships with various stakeholders
- Design community-based tourism products
- Conduct training and establish a sustainable management system
- Create value-added experiences for visitors
