This project focused on developing a baseline understanding of the Pekan Landscape, including identifying issues and opportunities related to its sustainable management and conservation. Several assessments were conducted across the Southeast Pahang Peatland Landscape (SEPPL) as a whole.
The project was carried out in two phases:
- Understanding the landscape, and
- Exploring long-term financing potential.
Objectives:
The project aim to generate a strategic recommendation relating to the ESG project(s) in which include the management actions that need to be implemented. In addition, this project targets suitable green financing opportunities available to fund the project.
Key Activities:
- Review the implementation of SEPPSF Integrated Management Plan (IMP).
- Compile and report profile land uses within the landscape.
- Assessment of hydrology, peat, wildlife and community engagement.
Key Outcomes:
- Provide an assessment and update as a whole of SEPPSF in terms of hydrology, peat and wildlife after 20 years.
- Conduct community engagement and assessment within the landscape.
- Produce a report profile on land uses of the landscape by using GIS.
