Peatlands are one of the major land types in Southeast Asia, mainly found at low altitude, sub-coastal areas extending inland for distances up to 300 km.
They cover approximately 22.9 million ha in Southeast Asia, with majority being in Indonesia, Malaysia, Brunei Darussalam, Thailand, Viet Nam and the Philippines, including smaller areas in Myanmar, Cambodia and Lao PDR.
To enable sustainable peatland conservation and use through multi-stakeholder partnerships in ecosystem restoration and climate change mitigation.
This project is designed to provide technical assistance for project implementation to the Global Environment Facility 6 (GEF6) SMPEM
